Waterfront property located on the shores of Smith's Bay on Lake Ontario, Happiness Haven is a peaceful pet-friendly escape from it all. Just 10 minutes from Picton and minutes to the County’s first winery, County Cider Company and Waupoos Marina, there is always something to do. Enjoy the 126 feet of waterfront on Lake Ontario for swimming and boating. The waterfront on this property has easy water access provided by a gentle sloping shoreline. The 40’ long dock with a ladder into the water makes exiting the lake after swimming a breeze. Kayaks and a SUP (stand up paddleboard) are complimentary for guests and can be safely launched and docked at this site.

Inside this renovated home find a cozy double-sided fireplace which provides ambiance from both the tv room and the sunroom when the weather turns chilly. The sunroom has 40 feet of windows where one can watch the activities on the bay including kayakers and dragon boaters. The flooring on the main level is made of reclaimed 9” pine boards from 200 year old logs salvaged from the Ottawa River. The three bedrooms on the main floor are small but functional with Queen beds in each.

Downstairs, you will find a large room with separate walk-out entrance and the ability to close off from the rest of the house should you choose. Here you will find two double beds, kitchenette with 2nd fridge (see amenities list for what's included) and a 3 piece bathroom. A picture window allows for lots of natural light.

On the main level the kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, toaster, griddle, coffee maker, slow cooker, kettle, utensils, cookware and dishes. Sit on a bar stool at the kitchen counter and keep the chef company. Off the kitchen you will find a large dining room which seats 10.

The patio doors allow for easy access to the large 22’ x 10’ main floor deck with glass railings and gas bbq, where outdoor lunches and dinners can be enjoyed.

Air conditioning is provided but nobody in this area has air conditioning or uses it. The owners recommend that you keep the windows open and enjoy the experience of the breeze off the water.

Quick responses!
Martin was very gracious. Although he lives in the property, he respected our privacy but also responded to questions very quickly. The photos dont do the property justice. The layout was great and rooms were clean. The renovations done were well thought out. There are three rooms on the main floor, one with an en suite. And theres another full bath. Downstairs which is a walkout to the lake, has two beds, a kitchenette and its own 3 piece bathroom. The living room is very cozy and overlooks the wonderful view. Theres a tv but didnt need to use it. Then theres the den with a seating area and a gas fireplace, and also another seating area both overlooking the lake. We spent a lot of time here whenever its hot outside. Morning coffee and alfresco dining were done on the deck daily. We couldnt have enough of the view! One thing we wish was some shade on the patio, but really its only on midday that theres no shaded area on the sprawling deck. Overall a great experience for us 2 couples and 4 kids under three. We rent a cottage 1-2 times a yearly and this one is one of the best ones weve stayed at. We hope to come back soon!

Lovely spot on Lake Ontario. A bit out of the way, so youd likely want to drive to any wineries or restaurants. The cottage is spacious and in a quiet area. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the views! Very clean

Happiness Haven is perfect for a cottage getaway. The house is super clean and the pictures do not do it justice. The view is incredible. Access directly to the lake. My friends and I loved the kayaks, paddle board, and the bbq. Would definitely recommend to all. Martin (the host) is very friendly and accommodating.

Definitely recommend staying here. The pictures honestly dont do it justice. Its very comfy and cozy. We went in a group of 8 and everyone loved it. My boyfriend and I stayed in the basement and it was cool- no AC needed and we liked the romantic feel of being able to walk outside from our room. What makes this place really special is the sitting area inside with the fireplace and the chairs set up to watch the sunset - bug free. You wont be disappointed with renting. The only thing it didnt have was a campfire outdoors. Other than that it was great. It also included 2 parking passes for sandbanks so that alone makes it the best option for families. It was a 20minutes drive and instead of being stuck in a massive drive line to enter the beach (45mins- an hour wait time), we just got to drive right on through with NO LINE

This is an amazing house to rent! We were eight guests and loved every minute. The place showed better in person than it does in the pictures. It is immaculately cleaned, very comfortable and met all of our expectations. Martin was a great host and we really appreciated his personal touches. Great place! We will definitely return for another weekend get away.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The fantastic views, great sitting areas and beautiful well equipped kitchen. Simply a great property inside and out. Love the antiques and needle point seats. There were 9 of us altogether. We the grandparents, our 3 children with their spouses and a seven month old. A great time for those in Toronto and Ottawa to get together and have fun getting to know their new niece on an everyday basis! We were delighted to have this great place for time together and memories made...Such as finding out around the dining room table that there will be a new little cousin for the 7 month old com January!

Happiness Haven is a great place and suitable for a large family or several families travelling together as the lower level is relatively self-contained with 2 doubles and a full bath and separate access-also excellent for surly teenagers. The home is beautifully decorated and well equipped-thoughtful things like a slow cooker, binoculars, good barbecue, lots of towels, super large washer dryer. Very bright with beautiful big windows and a huge deck with glass panels for a really great lake views. Everything works, and works well. Everything was super clean and well kept. My husband is really allergic to cats and I think the hosts have 4 but Mark had no symptoms all week so the cleaner is really doing a good job. The property is well maintained, grass cut, weeds pulled-nice trees so lots of shade at all times of the day. There's a big graveled driveway and space for more vehicles by the garage-good directions and good signage. Smith's Bay is pretty quiet and well-protected from the big lake so the swimming and kayaking were as good as we've had in the county. Water off the end of the dock is maybe 6 foot deep so it's likely possible to have a bigger boat in at the marina around the corner and tie up at the property. We didn't have much luck from the dock but saw people fishing from boats so there must be something out there. The Duke of Marysburg Pub is walk-able and the food was really good-they have music too on weekends. Lots of farm stands, County Cider, Waupoos Winery etc, down that way and closer to Picton than I would have thought so there is lots to do. We also really appreciate the Sandbanks pass. Elizabeth is lovely and I think her B&B experience shows-clear expectations about garbage, closing etc. and idiot-proof instructions-cupboards are labelled, bathtub rigged so the shower curtain keeps the water in the tub, reverse osmosis water system, stable and easy to access internet. Coffee beans from County Roasters and a grinder, filters, tea and sugar complimentary-soap for the washing machine, dishwasher, etc. so no need to chase around for those bits. Really, really excellent stay!!
