Description

Nestled along the “Golden Mile of Prince Edward County” - Closson road is dotted with world class wineries. This turn of the century farm cottage has been lovingly restored and tastefully decorated, featuring an open kitchen with an island and a great room with a stone fireplace. A dining room with a harvest table for 6 guests adjoins the well-appointed living room including a baby grand piano providing an intimate and unforgettable experience to unwind with family & friends.

A master bedroom with a 2-piece en-suite and a second guest room with a full 4-piece bath are on the second floor with a smaller guest bedroom downstairs. There is a 3-piece bathroom with shower on the main floor providing comfortable accommodation for up to 6 guests.

Enjoy the 6-person hot tub while watching the stars in the clear skies or the alpaca and horses in the nearby paddocks.

Due to Prince Edward County bylaws, this property sleeps a maximum of 6 guests.

Wander the 55 acres of fields on the farm, ski in winter or bike along Closson road to many wineries & farm shops. A short drive to Wellington in under ten minutes brings you to the Drake Devonshire and other restaurants along with grocery and liquor store. 

To make your stay even more enjoyable our Farm Manager visits the farm twice daily to take care of all farm chores and related tasks. You can watch the daily rhythm of farm life without participating (some may like to help out too!). You're ensured an enjoyable time on the farm free of chores and the worries that can be part of life on a farm. Sit back and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. 

Sorry - no pets are allowed as this is a working alpaca farm. There is the owners' farm dog and the owners live on site and will greet guests upon arrival. You will have complete privacy at the house.

The farm operates a self-contained farm shop on the property with a separate parking area and entrance from May to December open 11-4 daily.  Please visit the farm website shedchetwynfarms.com for more information about this rental and visiting the farm during operating hours.

Our 7 day stay in the charming, spacious and well equipped farmhouse on this spectacular alpaca farm, was everything we could have hoped for. It offered something for everyone. Imagine feeding alpacas, touring a lavender farm and biking down the road for a wine tasting all in the same day. We loved our private and pastoral home base and its proximity to bike trails and beaches and everything Prince Edward County has to offer. Hosts Ted and Shauna struck the perfect balance extremely helpful yet not intrusive . Would highly recommend this farm stay and wouldnt change a thing! (except maybe bringing home a few more alpaca themed products from the very inviting and upscale shop on site)

Due to Covid-19 cleaning measures and for the safety of our guests and staff, different check-in/out times are strictly non-negotiable. Access to the cottage to drop off belongings or to get the beach pass cannot be granted, no exceptions. A fee of $200 will apply for those who arrive early or depart late.

PAYMENT

Rental Deposit to Secure Booking: 35% (other booking sites charge a higher deposit)
Rental Balance is charged automatically 30 days prior to arrival (unless you reserved on another booking site as balance date may vary)
Refundable Damage Deposit: $1000 is charged 14 days prior to arrival. It may take up to 30 business days after departure to receive refund. See Rental agreement for details.

SPECIAL NOTES

Please note that Chetwyn Farm is NOT a petting zoo. You are welcome to watch the alpacas stroll through the fields, but no touching of the alpacas is allowed. Also, the barn cats Cuddles and Jackson will most likely greet you at the back door. They are NOT HOUSE CATS and not allowed in the house. They are fed in the barn with other animals morning and night.

Shed, the retail shop is open daily 11-4 from May to December and has 24 hour video and security monitoring of both the shop and parking area. The parking lot next to the vineyard is for public parking during the season and is gated to keep visitors out of the area after opening hours. The house is on a septic system so please only single ply toilet paper should be flushed. No kleenex, wipes etc.

Rural internet can be patchy especially when multiple devices are in use. Enjoy unplugging and unwinding.
